The owner, Randy Chastain, learned the trade of piano technician before getting her degree in music and education from Northeastern Illinois University in the early 1980's, as well as doing master’s work in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. She was on the Board of the San Francisco Piano Technician’s Guild, is a member of Berkeley Piano Club, sings in one of the best choral groups in the Bay Area, The Choral Project, and for seven years, was on the Board of Directors of the United States Open Music Competition, one of the largest open children's piano competitions in the U.S.
